Meet Drew & Ann Ethridge

Hello NTTD Community!

We are Drew and Ann Ethridge.  We attended NTTD #16 and are currently serving as Pre-Weekend Committee.  We worship and serve at The Parks Church in McKinney.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 20+ years since our dear friends Diane and Gene Hines sponsored us through our weekend.  Little did we know that attending that weekend was just the beginning of a long, involved, and very blessed journey with this blessed and anointed ministry!

Early on, when our two kiddos, Alex and Tyler were young, Drew was traveling so much with his job.  He was not able to commit to serving on a team, but he supported the ministry from behind the scenes by supporting me.  Now Drew has served three amazing weekends with the men of NTTD!  We are so very thankful to be able to see God’s power transforming lives for His glory.  It is a privilege and a blessing!

A bit about us…our adult children and the rest of our family are our joy!  From Drew’s small family to my huge family, we are overflowing with blessing of love and support all the time.  That’s not something we take for granted!  We love travel adventures, and just returned in May from Israel!  If you have gone, let’s exchange notes!

We love our life in downtown McKinney and our growing church family here.  We will be sponsoring some of these new friends through Tres Dias very soon!

Through our tenure at Tres Dias, God has shown us the true meaning of His Church…unconditional love, accountability in discipleship and precious fellowship with other believers, which is so beautifully demonstrated through this ministry.

We wish you the merriest Christmas ever as we all celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus, and the greatest Gift He is to us all!

De Colores,

Ann & Drew

SECUELA SUCCESS

What a wonderful November Secuela we had on a chilly evening in McKinney. We had over 100 people show up! The potluck was delicious as always, the fellowship warm and sweet, and then moments (and silence, too!) to reflect after hearing testimonies and meditation from community members.

If you weren’t able to make it, that’s okay! Another Secuela is being tentatively planned for January 28, 2023. We will keep with the tradition of having a potluck, worship, and mediation—with a twist! More details to come! Please, bring a friend. These gatherings are open to everyone.

Also, do you have a talent for bringing people together? Or maybe you’re just looking for a creative way to serve? The Fourth Day Committee is looking for servant hearts to join in the planning and fun of Secuelas. Contact Linda Madrid, if interested, at: lindamadrid@gmail.com

Rules of Discussion.jpeg

Hello NTTD!

My wife and I have a practice we call "Rules of Discussion," of which I have printed out and hung on my bathroom mirror. After very little success in discussions (arguments) over the years, we had to do something. Laura, of course, was well-versed in communication and easily making her point known, and my tendency would be to get easily frustrated, and clam up. So, we have a few guidelines to help us discuss issues in a more civil manner.

I have recently had a few blunders with fellow Board members in which I tried communicating with the awesome features of my smart phone. I don't have great reception, or any privacy in my office, so I will send a quick text if I can't find a place to make a call. Or I will use the voice to text option. One instance I tried the voice text feature and it changed a word to a very bad cuss word, which I have honestly never said or texted - on my cell phone. Another time, I was in a hurry, frustrated at work - and knew I should call instead - but sent texts that I thought might have been ironically funny. They weren't, and I offended someone that I greatly appreciate. I was mortified in both instances!

Moses in Ex. 4:10-12 said to the Lord “I have never been eloquent...I am slow of speech and tongue.”  And it was said of the Apostle Paul in 2 Cor. 10:10, "...in person he is unimpressive, and his speaking amounts to nothing." So...thankfully God doesn't rely on my skills or abilities to serve Him, and the irony is not lost on me that one of the things I feel He is having us improve in the NTTD community is communication.

With His help, guidance, and grace we can move forward!

De Colores,

Dak Lyons
